Detroit Tigers' Venezuelan gunman Miguel Cabrera was named Player of the Week and also Player of the Month in the American League.
The two-time MVP and Triple Crown winner in 2012 batted .565 (23-13) with four home runs and 13 RBIs between Sept. 26 and Oct. 2. In the final month of the season, which included all September and two days in October, Cabrera hit .349, averaging .439 and .670 slugging with 10 homers and 27 RBIs.
This is the 15th time that Cabrera has been named Player of the Week in his career. The most recent was during the week of May 22 of this campaign. In the case of the Player of the Month, it is the 5th time that he receives such honor. I had won it for the last time in September 2014.
